This nominee must have a record of implementing changes that have given advancement and positive exposure to the African American culture.

JFF 2022 “Freedom” Award – This award is based on the resilience of the nominee to bounce back from poor choices. This nominee has been previously incarcerated but after completing their sentence chose to turn their life around be an asset to the community. “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” - Nelson Mandela


JFF 2022 “JFF Hero” Award - Nominations for this award are based on a heroic act that saved the life of an individual or individuals. The nominee’s selfless behavior impacted and changed the lives of others. “I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear.” - Rosa Parks
